Sunday Bloody Sunday - U2

This song was written by Bono and The Edge, the vocalist and the guitarrist of U2 respectly. Sunday Bloody Sunday was created in answer to the day of violence in Irland on Sunday, 30th January, 1972. That day was programmed a peaceful manifestation where over 15.000 people went out to the streets to favor of their civil rights and without explanation a group of soldiers opened fire to this innocent people, dying fourteen of them.

The song was created for people who lost their family in this Bloody Sunday:
"Wipe the tears from your eyes
 Wipe your tears away"
That part is a form of console the families who lost a sister, a brother, a father, a mother, etc.

Sunday Bloody Sunday is like a anthem to this type of repression and violence not be repeated again.

"Dig" - Incubus

This beautiful message called “Dig” was created by Incubus, a rock band from California and one of my favorites. It was released on March 27, 2007 (today is the anniversary of the single).

The band used in this song emotional resorces and everyday life situations. I think people can identify quickly with any of feelings were expressed.

Their represent friendship, deep feelings such as love, fear, affection and unconditional support. The song gives a reflexive thoughts about a positive relationship with an important person in our lives, because “We all have someone that dig at us”.

It can be understood as a love song to our soulmate, as a message to a good friend or even to any family’s member.

In my opinion the song was written to show us a wonderful way to say “I love you”, “Thank you”, “I want to you to know that you're special to me”, “You make me feel a better person” while we are singing or listening to this song.

I love the music video! It’s art to me and the images keep the main idea of the lyrics.

“Remind me that we'll always have each other
When
everything else is gone”. ♪

A Woman's Worth by Alicia Keys

The author of this song is Alicia Keys, she talks about love and howmen should value the love of a woman, respecting, being faithful and accompanying.
It shows a couple where the man does not respect or appreciate his wife and a relationship in every way should be based on respect and the valuation of the person we have on our side.
Machismo was common in ancient times, but now is valued morefor women.
We can interpret this song with romantic love, like the family, as both should be valued and cared for this is maintained and grows up.
she sings this song to women, to realize our worth and demand it.and men to learn to value women accompanying him.

Critical Acclaim

This song was created by the band Avenged Sevenfolf and it's about the rights that we all have and how they're not respected by others just because of the intolerance. This song makes you to open your eyes to the lack of equality or fair treatment in the sharing of wealth or opportunities that is all over the world, there are different ways of understanding the message depending on your lifestyle, values and social situation.

This song attracted my attention with this particular part:
"So how does it feel to know that someone's kid
in the heart of America has blood on their hands
fighting to defend your rights
so you can maintain a lifestyle
that insults his family's existence"

It's about putting yourself in someone else's shoes and make the world a different place.

Coldplay - The Scientist

1.       the video is done in a narrative backwards, in the beginning Chris Martin in the beginning  shown lying on a mattress  in the street hence the camera begins to capture their movements and actions to the contrary, with him walking backwards and re-doing all the previous moves. This leads to the forest where the story says there was a tremendous crash, as he and his girlfriend This leads to the forest where the story says there was a tremendous crash, as he and his girlfriend came quietly driving the car.The video then shows the longing of the song itself: the desire of a lover sad and disappointed "redo" and amend each and every one of the mistakes ... to get back to that or those happy moments full of love

Plan B - ill Manors

ill Manors lyric was written by Ben Drew, Al Shux, Pierre Krajewsky, David Conen, Vincent Graf von  Schlippenbach & Dmitri Shostakovich, singed by Ben Drew and produced by Al Shux.
This song was released only a few days ago, it attracts my attention because talks about how people in england stereotypes the habitants of deprived areas with the word "chav" (council housed and violent), and the inneficience of the state to look after the children from deprived areas, without mention the explicit violence images of the video.
The understanding of the video can be affected by the social status of the viewer, but the main message of the video is to make a reflexion about make stereotypes of peoples of deprived areas, and think about the economic and social inequalities that exist in all the world, not only in England.

Butterflies and Hurricanes

This song was written by Matthew Bellamy, singer of the group Muse. The song's tittle was inspired by the butterfly effect of chaos theory, describing how tiny actions can have big impact the world. This songs gives the message that we have to change, be the best...evolve in order to change the world and that we'll need to fight to do it, because it wont be easy. This song can also be interpreted as a message of revolution saying that if all the "powerless" people get together and fight together agains the group of people that run this world, we can make it a better place.

"Best, you've got to be the best
You've got to change the world
And use this chance to be heard"
Imitation of Life by R.E.M.

Created by R.E.M. an American Rock band from Georgia, it was released in the 12th album of the band called "Reveal".
In this song R.E.M. used a very unusual technique, the whole video took around 20 seconds. According to the band "Is a loop that goes forwards for 20 seconds, backwards for 20 seconds, forwards for 20 seconds, backwards for 20 seconds, with one camera, static, and then using a technique called "Pan and Scan", which is a method of adjusting widescreen film images, moving in on certain parts of the entire picture.
The songs of R.E.M. are very "enigmatic" specially this one, so it's a little difficult to find the meaning of the words. By example in the first stanza -
                                                                                 Charades, pop skill
Water hyacinth, named by a poet
                                                                                  Imitation of life
Like a koi in a frozen pond
Like a goldfish in a bowl
I don't want to hear you cry"
it definitely has more than one point of view, so the full message is up to the one who listen to it.

Although it is clear that the main message of the song is the "overcoming", the "go ahead no matter what" and the "keep trying".
I think the song aim to make us realize that there is no need to imitate others to succeed in life, you have to be your self and walk your own path and succeed in your own way in life.

No One - Alicia Keys

No one

This a romantic song written by American recording artist Alicia Keys from her third studio album, As I Am. She is an excellent singer and songwriter.
I chose this song because is beautiful and has a very nice message. Is really talking about the way that in relationships, the way that so many things are around you all the time to try to distract you. And even though people may talk and say whatever they may want to say, but then no one can get in the way of this.
I think it is special for other people because this song is special, reflects that no matter what others says if you´re happy, as the song says “ no one can get in the way of what I´m feeling”
I think it reflects the purest feelings, to believing in yourself, to have courage and continue with your life, be persistent and believe in your partner.
My favorite part is when say:

when the rain is pouring down
and my heart is hurting
you will always be around
yes, i know, for certain
you and me together
through the days and nights
i don´t worry cause
everything´s gonna be alright...

Gift this message, because I really like this song and I hope you enjoy it!

"Never tear us apart"- INXS

"Never tear us apart" is a song released by INXS in august 1988. The music was written by Andrew Farris and the lyric was written by Michael Hutchence, the vocalis.
The song has a very sensual music. It is played with sinthetizers and it has a lot of dramatic pauses. This kind of music makes my senses vibrate. I love this song because of its sensual music.
This is a love song but for me it is more than a love song.  It is a song with a sad lyric. A man who hurts a woman and he is sorry for hurting her. He is promising her the world. This song was written in a very important moment of the vocalist, Michael Hutchence. It is his personal lyric.

"We could live
for a thousand years
but if I hurt you
I'd make wine from your tears.

I told you
that we could fly
cause we all have wings
but some of us don't know why"

Forever - Fireflight

It was a long time ago the last time I heard this group or this song. Looking for the right song to share with you, I found this one, Forever by Fireflight. It was written by Dawn Michele (Vocals). She wrote (almost) all the band's songs.
This is a rock band with loud sound and aesthetics according to their style. When I saw it I liked it, so I didn't hesitate to listen to their music. Beyond that, it is also a Christian band, so there was another reason for follow it.
What I like the most about music is that each person gives it a personal meaning. This song was, in fact, written in an spiritual sense, thinking about God, but maybe someone might hear it and think about a relative, a friend, someone beloved, etc. , because it reminds us the unconditional support, in this case, the unconditional support that God always gives us. Even though we tend to go away from Him, He always finds the way to make us notice we're not alone.

Jeremy - Pearl Jam

Jeremy is a song by Pearl Jam, with lyrics written by vocalist Eddie Vedder, who was inspired in a true story about a 15-year-old boy named Jeremy Wade, who killed himself in front of his classmates. The video music gets a lot of attention for two reasons. The first reason is about the edition of the video, which uses a technique like collage that shows fast images of Eddie Vedder, recreation of the true story and also some messages. The second reason is for showing strong images, which recreate in somehow that Jeremy Wade lived in a cruel way. Even it shows the moment of his suicide. Due to this, the video was censured in many countries.

The music video message can be understood in different ways, but all of them point out that depression leads people to suicide, it is caused by not being part of a group, feeling lonely, or discriminated against by your peers. In this video it is clear that Jeremy suffered from constantly bullying, and that his parents did not pay attention to him and how he was feeling.

The message has been sent to show a particular fact that called Eddie Vedder’s attention when he saw it in the newspapers. Besides to show the reasons that allow these events happen.

Shinedown - Bully

Bully by Shinedown has an obvious meaning. It contributes to the fight against bullying in a strong way, and according to Zack Myers, guitarist of the band, they didn't feel ashamed of the way they expressed the message.
The video has many things that caught my attention, for example they show scenes of bullying itself and how it affects family and friends of the affected. We can also see Brent Smith being more "passionate" while "singing". The song was written by Brent Smith, Zack Myers, and David Basset, and has really strong lyrics... such as "No one's gonna cry on the very day you die, you're a bully"

The song and the video can be seen as "too strong and violent" but in my opinion that's exactly what's required in this kind of message. Why? Because bullies don't think about the way the bullied could feel, so... why should we care about how they feel with the message?

And so... at the end of the video, we can see the objective of the message, that the underdog can beat the bully once and for all.

In a Darkened Room - Skid Row

This beautiful song is play by the high and the mighty SKID ROW, this is an 80's hard rock heavy metal band from United States, New Jersey, this song belongs to their second album called "slave to the grind", one of the most sold albums in the history.
Skid row is my favorite band, especially because of the original voice of the band Sebastian Bach, which according to my opinion is one of the most powerful voices in the history of rock. This song of the group is not very famous as other tracks like "I remember you"," Youth gone wild" or "18 and life" , but to me is one of my favorites.
The message is very clear, this song talks about the end of love in a relationship, and someone in this relationship asking about where is the love that they had and trying to save the relationship.
Besides being a great track, the video goes absolutely perfect with the song because is kind of depressive and dark just like the song, also is very striking all the use of the light in the video, because really reflect how people fell when a relationship is close to end. The message in this video is being sent to express the way that people feel when the love in a relationship disappear and you can not do nothing to save it.

Jonas Brothers - A little bit longer

I chose this song because The Jonas Brothers are my favorite band. Maybe you think "they are just a pop band", but not for me. This song has an special meaning for me and Jonas fans. A little bit longer was written for Nick Jonas, part of the Jonas Brothers. Let me tell you more about him. Nick Jonas has Type 1 Diabetes, which can make him irritated and put him in a bad mood. This song deals his struggle with the disease- he wrote it in the empty ballroom of a hotel when he was having a rough day. His disease is not an easy one, he needs insulin to feel good and to live, but he has never complained about it. Apart from this, he has been fighting for the cure of Diabetes and he has become in the spokeman of many campaigns to help people with this disease.
A little bit longer has become the anthem for Jonas fans because we support and understand his struggle in a way. This song also can be interpreted in different ways; you can relate this with some disease, with love or with something you have lost. The lyrics are flawless for me and surely if this song is heard without prejudice, you will find something interested about it.
The most important thing for me about A little bit longer is to never give up no matter how hard it is the moment or the problem because a little bit longer and I'll be fine...

"Whatever" by Oasis

I chose the song “Whatever” by Oasis, because it’s one of my favorite bands, I really enjoy listening to their music, and I wanted to share the lyric of this song particularly because it has a very powerful message, and it’s not like most songs we hear nowadays with nonsense, superficial lyrics. The message of this song is very inspiring and very explicit, very clear, it doesn’t have second interpretations. Each of one is free to do whatever they want to do, we can be whatever we want to be, we are free to feel, to think, to live in our way, without any tie, not caring about what people say or think about it, not mattering what other people want us to be. Not letting yourself get influenced by others, it’s good to be just who you are.

The lyric was written by Noel Gallagher, member of the band Oasis, about a personal experience with his father, who used to make Noel work on a building site with him as a teenager, because he wanted Noel to be a builder, but he really wanted to be a musician. As the lyric was based on a life experience, the message is being sent to all the people who feel the same, when you have to hide yourself to make others happy.

The video was recorded in 1994, it’s black and white, and you can see members of the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Electric Light Orchestra playing the strings, which gives the song a especial touch.
"Whatever you do,
whatever you say,
yeah, I know it's alright"

Without you - David Guetta ft Usher

Without you - David Guetta ft Usher

"Without You" is a song write by French DJ David Guetta and Usher, an American singer in 2011.
This video was recorded in different beaches around the world. Showing beautiful landscapes. And in this video is shown as the continents join it, making one. Uniting the world in a big party with people around the world and from different cultures.
Lyrically, it is a song about lamenting a heavy subject: Life without someone who means the world to you. Is a song of love but too is a song that tells you that the life is one and we have to enjoy together with deffirent people.
I think all people can understand this message, because the lyrics is simple. The concept that life is no fun without a particular person and this message is very comun around the world.
This message being sent because want brighten the lives of people who have lost other.

Island In The Sun --Weezer

This song was created for  Rivers Cuomo the vocalist of the Weezer band . I choose this song because is my favorite!! I love the melody  and the way is made this video because I love the nature with  the animals , and they used a lot beautiful animals like puppies, kittens, bears, monkeys and a cub tigers.. all that things attract my attention , I  think is very cute and looked like a whole lot of fun..I never get tired of watching this lovely video! Some people when see this think  is for proof that animals are much better than us, others think in summer and remembered good times  but to me the really means of this song is when you found love, you can be
very happy ..“we’ll  never feel bad anymore”  like says Cuomo in the lyric. In general this song from my point of view is very positive! bring me happiness everytime that  i listen it. well.. I think all of us dreams with our "island in the sun" a place without troubles  ..only love.

In my opinion this message has been sent to say that you can find love, fun, peace in everything that you propose .. with someone special like a friend, in a couple or including like in the video with animals, but  the main idea they given us  is  enjoy the life with the love !

Killing Loneliness - HIM

Killing loneliness is a song written by Ville Valo, singer from the Finnish band HIM.
Melancholy, sadness, romanticism and sensuality are the perfect combination in this song and video. That’s the main feature of this band, feelings and darkness.
I love HIM songs because you can give them the meaning you want to. This song seems to be a love song; “with the warm of your arms you saved me” makes you think that he is telling to a woman that she saved him from loneliness.
However some people think the author is talking about drugs. And that’s true. Ville Valo declared that the song is related to a close friend who is a heroin addict and he used to say he consumed to killing loneliness. We can notice it in the phrase “with the venomous kiss you gave I’m killing loneliness”.
The songwriter Ville Valo wrote this song to his friend to realize how drugs were consuming him and leading him to death.

*I couldn’t insert the video neither so I post the link too*

Tears In Heaven- Eric Clapton

'Tears In Heaven' was written by Eric Clapton and Will Jennings and it was released on January, 1992. It's mainly about the pain and loss Clapton felt when his four year-old son Connor fell down from a 53th story apartement in New York on March 20, 1991.
The main attraction of this song is the story behind it. The calm melody and the strong message of the pain that parents can feel with the death of a child, are represented on the voice of Clapton. The video itself  is very simple but strongly meaningful.
People who had this awful experience can relate to it and make this song part of their own past. Those parents who haven't suffered a child loss could imagine themselves on that situation and feel what the author feels or just listen to the lyrics understand them but do not relate to them at all.
This song talks about Heaven, so there's a christian religion view, expressing there's a place where our souls will rest in peace.
This song was written because Eric Clapton wanted to share his personal experience with the public, in a way to honnor his son Connor and to send him the message that he will be strong  and he will learn to live with that pain.

PS: when I try to insert the video, the different ways of uploads do not work, and I don't know why, when I clicked on them they do not react as the way Israel showed us on friday and to close the pop-out I have to reload the website. I've tried several times during the weekend and it doesn't work so I'm posting the link.

Fix You - Coldplay

My favorite music group is coldplay, the themes of his songs cause me to be in a constant meditation. I chose the song "fix you" because in a moment of my life I felt identified with the lyrics of this song as it was in a sad and depressed state, where everything that was around me was bad. But I think that in life you have to struggle to achieve the goals we have set, plus the song does not speak of help myself but to help others, and that is how I am a happy man.

I keep this part of the song:

"Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you"

Jessie J - Who you are

This song was created by Jessica Ellen Cornish, better known by her stage name Jessie J, is an English singer and songwriter and she’s one of my favourites.  Previously, she wrote songs for some artists like Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyrus, Chris Brown, Alicia Keys and Christina Aguilera.
There are many things of this song that catch my attention. The first was the name of the song ‘Who you are’. The second thing is Jessie has an incredible powerful voice wich sounds so much better in live performances. Few singers can do that. Also she achieves to convey feelings in every song she sings. And the third thing was the video. It’s very simple, but it shows the right and necessary to understand the message or what she wants to tell us. I think the message of this song can be understand in different ways, it depends on what point of life is someone for example: maybe someone who has troubles with his family, friends or someone who doesn’t feel comfortable with himself.
The main idea of this song is accept who you are:  ‘It’s okay not to be okay, sometimes it’s hard to follow your heart, tears don’t mean you’re losing everybody’s bruising, just be true to who you are’. Because we cannot pretend to be perfect all the time, and when we do that we’re lying to ourselves. Its important doesn’t lose the essence of us.
This message has been sent because it’s important that every person learns to love and accept themselves even if they have made mistakes. And more importantly, we have to believe and to be honest with ourselves and the rest of the people.

Strawberry Fields Forever

This song was created by John Lennon, who was part of The Beatles. This is one of my favorite musical groups, but this video is part of the soundtrack of the movie “Across the universe”. This video is focused in the war, so the lyric of this song show us a peaceful world, a kind of naïve world, the lyrics almost make us dream and feel like we live in this peaceful world no matter what is happening outside us.

I think that the video is attractive for me and for many people because its intensity and depth. Also the mix of the war images and the red colour of the strawberries make us think and enjoy of this video and this song .
I think that not all people totally understand this song, but almost all people can be surprised by the video and watching it and listening the lyric can think in the intensity of the video and the intensity of the lyric.

This message has been send because is necessary that people can see a world with other eyes, with peaceful eyes, and think that in this life just matter enjoy not fight, take all the problems with relax, we just need enjoy in this world where every time we live more fast and without enjoy of the little things.

Linkin Park - What I've Done

This song was created by Linkin Park, and alternative rock band from California.
The DJ of the band, Joe Hahn directed the video of the song. which was shot is the California desert and shows important scenes of the history of humankind.
The song/video invites us to reflect on the things we have done and the consequences of our actions.
The video also shows: pollution, global warming, racism, religious sects, terrorism, famine, war, poverty, drug addiction, destruction...
This message was sent to show us that we are the guilty of our own destruction, but we have the ability to create a better world if we wish.

Best of You

I chose this song called “Best of You” from Foo Fighters. This is an American rock band formed in Seattle in 1994. This song is the first single released from the band's fifth studio album.
This song caught my attention thanks to the power, strength, character and energy of the singer in this interpretation. The contrasting images of well-being and disaster, pain and peace, hate and love. etc. Also, the singer questioning and reflecting a lot about our actions. He invites us to do an introspection.
This song can be interpreted in different ways because in the choir
"Were you born to resist or be abused?
Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you?
Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you? "
each person can think of a "someone" different from another, one can think of a friend or relative, or even yourself, who is on the situation of being repressed for something.
"Best of You" shows the ability that we have within us to resurface in the face of adversity, to express our anger, pain and suffering for free from the chains that bind us. Also shows the courage, determination and strength to withstand all that comes to us.
Foo Fighters, with this song, tell us that we always have the power and the strength to move on and don’t give up.
I love this song, listen to it :D

Ray of Light

I know what you are thinking " a madonna song , really?", but I think that the song and the video are great for a lot of reasons .

In 1997 Madonna was working with trance and house music producer William Orbit , they wrote and produced electronic music with lyrics that reflected madonna´s new spirituality. They took a 1968 country song called  "Sepheryn" by Curtiss Maldoon and completely re-worked, adding new lyrics and an new edgy electronic sound. .The song and the album of the same name have won 6 grammy awards The music video was directed by Jonas Åkerlund.

This is my favorite song because it says it all , but says nothing . The lyrics are really vague , in a sense that they are not explicit, we don´t really know what the song is really about , but there is a certain mysticism, the electronic sound creates an atmosphere , the video with high-speed images of cities, people and routines makes me feel that our lifes are going faster than a ray of light .

Since the lyrics are so vague, everyone can interpret the song however they want to .For me the song talks about how we are living so fast that don´t have time to wonder : who am I ? what is my place in this world? . The song also talks about how small are we in this enormous world , the fact that we are just a particule of the universe , but at the same time, the universe is the place where we should be .

This was a message was sent to the new generation, in 1998 a lot of people were wondering "how will the year 2000 be?"  " how is the new century going to be '" and the song reflects that feeling .

" And I feel
Quicker than a ray of light
Then gone for
Someone else shall be there
Through the endless years"

Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen

Bohemian Rhapsody was written by Freddie Mercury in 1975, the music is complex, it was groundbreaking at the time and there´s a great mystery to the lyrics. No one knows what the song is really about. Freddie Mercury didn’t like to talk about his creating process, and after he passed away, the rest of the band said none of them like to tell people what their songs are about. "The thing about a great song is you relate it to your own personal experiences.

The song doesn’t have regular verses and a chorus like most songs, it has three parts in which the stile changes from ballad to opera and then into heavy rock. The video is very special and important to audiovisual history. Back in the 1970´s music videos were called “promotional videos”, and very few bands made them. The special effects in the video where made during filming, using special lenses and lights, The band decided to make the video to avoid appearing “live” on Top of The Pops, an important TV show where it was compulsory to use playback, and they hated miming. They helped set the trend for what we know today as music videos.

There are a lot of accepted theories for what the lyrics mean. Many people say the song is about Mr. Mercury coming to terms with his sexual orientation.  I believe it’s a story about a man who is indifferent to the world we live in, he doesn’t care about anyone. He kills another man and is sentenced to death. Only after facing his own mortality does he realize he wants to live. He is judge by angels and demons, both fighting over his soul. In the end he manages to save himself. He gets more time to redeem his soul and avoid going to hell, but unfortunately he goes back to being his old self, unwilling to connect to the world around him, wasting his second chance.

I think is a reflection of how numb and indifferent we can be today. We take everything for granted, barely caring about our own lives, until something truly tragic happens, like going through a near death experience, the death of a loved one, or a natural disaster were millions die, then we want to change and help others, but in a few weeks we´ll forget about it and go back to being indifferent.
If giving this message was Queen´s intention, we´ll never know, but it is a good theory, one that we need to keep in mind. By being aware of our mistakes, we can avoid repeating them in the future.
