I've wanted to begin with this video, wich inspires me for write this reflection.
Everyday we see people, people who at our eyes is aparently happy or without problems. But there's something we don't know. Yes, some of them are really happy but the rest not. The rest of the people usually are wearing a mask. Why? Because they're hiding their pain and things that they aren't proud of.
For example, this guy says he's fake (for the reason that i mentioned before). But he is sad, because the people hates him and they tell him bad things. As a consequence of this he cuts himself, actually he has thought about commit suicide. But there's something inside him that tells he has to be strong, because there are a lot of good reasons to be here with life.
And this not only happen with this boy, in fact, it happens to a lot of people and their effects are different, for example: depression, eating disorders, self-injury like cutting, suicide, etc, but they have something in common: They use the physical pain because actually it makes them feel better and it helps to forget the bad words and moments that they have to bear everyday. And all of this are result of bullying, intolerance, problems with parents, be under pressure from family or school, or even if we said something offensive.
So it's very important be careful with our actions and we have to find the way to help this people. There are organizations with this target, for example: The Born This Way Foundation created by Lady Gaga. It has the mission to foster a more accepting society, where differences are embraced and individuality is celebrated.
We have to try to make undertand at this people that each of us are unique, also we must try to notice all the great qualities we have, and maybe there are things that we don't like about us, but that things are making us special.
I wanted to finish including a quote that i consider important:
''We've all been hurt by words before, So before you speak, think about how your words might affect someone else.''
Valeria Montecinos A.
It's a true fact that we don't always know what the other person might be going through, and a tiny thing, a little detail could be the drop that spilled the glass for someone. We all have our differences and we should embrace them and learn from each other. :)
