Violence in schools - bullying

There is much talk these days of school violenceFirst of all I think we should start by being more precise and say violence in schools, as the violence we see in some classrooms are neither more nor less than the reflection of the very violence we see every day in much of society .
The school is not immune to what happens in political acts that end in riotsin soccer, tv programs, in some sectors of government and even in some families.
As future teachers can do much, but unfortunately there is no infallible as each school and each classroom is different and the strategies require an accurate diagnosis. I reflect on this great problem.
I think that should be a rethink about the role of schools in the current and proposed viable alternatives that include all its members, students, officials, teachers, administrative personnelwhere the school is to resume its mission to form citizens capable improve the quality of life and to collaborate in building a just, fraternal, democratic and participatory, that is, teach values.
It is important to emphasize the teaching of values in every way. Educators must assume our responsibility for thisand work with perseverance to accomplish something.
Searching the internet I found a trailer for the movie(documentary) bully, has quite strong images,  but you see very clear, I hope to see you soon in Chile.

  1. Bulling is a phenomena that has taken more and more space lately in the news and it is the result of intolerance at all levels. Someone in class mentioned that we are more intolerant these days because of the stressful situations we face given the rapidly evolving society in which we live in. I partly agree with that point of view because I think intolerance is the result of ignorance and fear. Ignorance and fear because we feel threatened by any person, situation or idea that does not fit the mindsets we have build up throughout life and our tendency is to reject and pinpoint what we conceive as "flaws" or erroneous ways to do things.
It is here, where the role of the language teacher should be made prominent in society.
I believe that as classroom teachers we should embrace those differences, discuss them in class and have students reflect about how by understanding such differences we enrich our intellect and prepare our path for a worry-free life style.
