Why are hindu gods in the form of animals?

I had this question in my mind, because gods usually are people and when we started to talk about India I said, why are they animals and not humans? And searching on internet I found some theories about it.

One of the theories is that they are animals because gods are omnipresents and they can take any form.
Another theory was that that concept helps to explain that we should treat animals with respect as gods dwell in them.

All of this means that in hindu religion animals are respected for what they are, and this try to show us that in our world we need to have this respect for them as hindu people do.

  1. I really like it how in different parts of the world we get to perceive things so differently sometimes, like in your example of a "god" always having to look like a human being (as this as the way we have always depicted our God due to Chhristianity); however, it's interesting how in other cultures gods could resemble animals, or even parts of nature and life(such as the Egyptian god Ra, who was thought to be the sun). Anyway, thanks for sharing this topic with us; it's always great to apreciate the diferences among cultures.
