Australian Fauna

As we could see in classes, there are extremly unique and special wildlife in Australia which I would like to talk about briefly in the following lines. Of course we already have an idea about what kind of animals live in Australia, for example, the Koala, a lovely marsupial; the Kangaroo and the Dingo, the typical wild dog but there are several of species we don’t have an idea about how do they look like or what do they are.

One of the singular animals is the “Spotted Cuscus”. In general this curious and nocturnal marsupial has an orange and white fur, it climbs trees and eats fruits and vegetation. Sometimes they could eat small animals and eggs.

The next one is the “Goanna”, a type of iguana known as “The sand monitor” . The goanna lives in northern Australia. They usually climb trees and eat scorpions, spiders and insects.

Also we can find this unusual and beautiful bird called “Cassowary”. It is found in North Queensland, it has a strange and grey bony helmet; the color of its neck is orange, purple and blue and  the body plumage becomes blacker with their increase in age. They usually eat dead marsupials, fruits and small birds.

In addition, we could find the “Sea Dragon”, they aren’t sea horses. They live in southern waters and their appearance is like sea flora, good for camouflage, their colors are normally green, yellow and orange. They often eat zooplankton, shrimp and other crustaceans.

However, these extravagant animals are not the only species that Australia has. Actually, there are a wonderful fauna, more than you think. If you want to know further, you can visit the following website: http://www.australianfauna.com/.

Finally, I would like to share an amazing video related to this topic.

  2. I've always called attention to the animals that live in Australia, are so weird! Australia has some of the most deadly animals on the planet, like box jellyfish and red-back spider. The Australian animal I like most is the Tasmanian devils (although their screams are terrifying). They are small marsupials that are carnivores, very interesting creatures. Sadly, they don't spin around like tornadoes, like in cartoons jajaja.

  3. I found very interesting this post because I always wanted to know more about Australian Fauna. Also the video was very interesting. Although, Australia is known for being a developed and multicultural country, the wild side is still present and with unique animals. The animals that called my attention were all those with bright colors; Sea Dragon and Cassowary were my favorite ones.

  4. Your post strongly caught my attetion, I'm amazed by the Australian Fauna I'd never heard about this types of animals and they are so pretty and cute. Australia is usually known for their Kangaroos and Koala bears and I didn't know about any other native animals. Great post!
