In our culture, we think about Muslim women as if they were in ancient Biblical times, because they are always hidden behind clothes and are forbidden to show even a little part of their body, something that has nothing to do with real liberty.
We think about ourselves as very modern because we can wear bikinis or we can increase the volume of our breasts through surgery.
In another subject, Muslims are allowed to marry more than one woman when they can protect, love and treat equally each one of them.
But we think we are better because we have laws that protect monogamy, and many of us think is not so bad to have one, two or more sexual affairs.
I believe that, in our culture, love is a word that has to be re-evaluated, because infidelity to us firstly and to others is destroying love, families and children.
This Muslim woman has touched my inner world and through this post I want to touch you. This topic is touching me today ; love, marriage, children, bonds, a happiness that some told me it's just “once upon a time”.
I ask myself, can it be real?
I think that we shouldn’t just criticize the religion or tradition of someone without having a complete view of the situation.
To be great is not just to have more money or technology, political power or many weapons; it is much more than that.
Maybe it has to do with how much you know about yourself and also with true honesty because each one of us have value and power to do a better world. May you think about this for some minutes?
