No quality in education, No progress in society.

During the last week I made an essay talking about the life of one of the most important persons that fought against racial prejudices in the USA by non violent resistance. That made me think about our everyday life, and how is it possible that in 2012 after a world war, after killing people just because they were different, discrimination is still an issue in every country. In Chile, the value-based education with an emphasize on empathy and respect for others have been lost in our society which makes increases the individualism, bullying and all kinds of violence against “different persons” and for this wrong concept of education we have been hearing a lot more about cases where that violence end up in murder, if we take as an example the Zamudio’s case, we can realize that this is not an isolated incident. In our country, people are discriminated because of race, nationality, social status, or sex, physical appearance, ideas, or their disability, which is about tolerance as a principle…Something that is not learned by a political decree, a resolution, or a law, but through a process of continuing education over time.
