If Today Was Your Last Day - Nickelback

This song was released by the Canadian rock band Nickelback by the end of the year 2008. "If today was your last day"has many possitive features, and according to Chad Kroeger, the lead singer from this band, its most remarkable quality is that it's a very possitive and motivating song.

The main idea behind the lyrics of this song is that every single day we live is a blessing, or a gift as the song itself describes it, and that we should apreciate it by giving our best everyday, living everyday as if it was the last one we will live.

This song is quite clear in its main message, however, in one of the last stanzas where it says: "If today was your last day, would you make your mark by mending a broken heart?" it could be understood in  many different  ways depending "whose" heart we think that the singer means to save: it could be his own heart, or the heart of someone he loves, or even the one of a complete stranger, it could also be in a romantic or non-romantic way, just to name a few possibilities of how that part could be interpreted.

As it was said in the second paragraph, this song was meant to make us realise that every day is a gift and that we should leave them like that, doing our best everyday instead of being stuck in our past.

To sum up, this song is meant to have a motivational effect in its listeners and to remind us of some of the most important things in life.
